On Wednesday, Bloomberg quoted sources who knew about the program to report that Morgan Chase, America’s largest bank, will allow its trading and wealth management clients to use encrypted ETF as collateral for loans in the coming weeks.

This decision is part of a larger strategy to allow specific customers to borrow against the security of encrypted related assets. It is said that the bank will begin with the encryption of ETF, particularly the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) in Belet, which has managed over $70 billion in assets.

This was done last month when Jamie Diamond, CEO of Morgan Chase, stated that the bank would soon allow customers to purchase bitcoin, although it would not provide hosting services. This famous encrypted currency skepticism has not changed his attitude, but the bank’s recent shift suggests that Bitcoin offers a real business opportunity that Morgan Chase can no longer ignore.

Previously, Morgan Chase treated encrypted ETF as collateral on a case-by-case basis. This change indicates that the Bank is working to make this a standard policy, similar to the way stocks, automobiles or works of art are treated in the calculation of the borrowing capacity of the customer ' s assets.

The Bank is also prepared to include the holding of encrypted currency when assessing the net assets of wealth management clients.

According to sources, these changes will apply to all wealth management clients of the Bank worldwide, from retail clients to high net worth individuals.
