
Vitalik Buterin, a co-founder of the Taifeng, put forward a new proposal aimed at enabling ordinary users to operate easily with the Taifeng node using conventional consumer hardware in a way that would synchronize the node with the network. This has not only increased the participation of individual users, but also increased the decentrization of the network.
Core elements of the proposal
On the Ether Workshop, any device that can run its software and connect to other computers to share and validate network data can build a node. These nodes work together to validate transactions and maintain the security of the Ether House. Having a full node means that users can operate the same service as local servers and achieve chain-reading that does not require trust, censorship and privacy.
However, the current operation of a complete ETA node requires the storage of data in excess of 1.3 TB, which is too costly for most people without specialized hardware or cloud resources. Buterin's new proposal introduces a “user-centred” model where nodes focus only on information that is important to users, rather than tracking the global state of the entire Etherwood. This approach is not only in line with the broader ETA road map, but is also part of the Pectra upgrade plan, known as the most ambitious upgrade of the ETA system to date.
Industry perspectives and challenges
While this proposal is seen as a clean-up, the realization of this concept remains a challenge, with the potential for increased complexity, such as the need for a robust sub-state selection mechanism and alternative options. In addition, distributed storage can be successful in ensuring data availability only if there are enough nodes involved. Nevertheless, industry experts see this as a worthy goal.
