While Schwab has always been cautious about encrypted currency and warns investors on its website of the risk of a total loss of value of encrypted money investments, the company CEO Rick Wurster indicated to analysts at the company ' s spring update that by April 2026 Schwab was expected to provide spot encrypted currency transactions, including bitcoin, which is based on the growth of investor interest and more friendly regulatory prospects.

Schwab currently provides indirect access to encrypted money only through third-party exchange trading funds, bitcoin futures and closed funds. The project will allow users to buy and sell digital assets such as bitcoin directly. However, Schwab has not reduced its disclosure of the risks of encrypted currency, but continues to emphasize that it has no intrinsic value and alerts investors to its volatility and potential zero risk.
