The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced thatKraken.Industry experts from companies such as Exodus and Angelage Digital will participate in their round-table discussions on hosting in the Encrypted Currency Task Force. In a notification dated 16 April, the SEC indicated that Commission members Hester Peirce and Caroline Crenshaw, Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda and Chief of Staff of the Encrypted Currency Task Force, Richard Gabbert, would meet with Mark Greenberg, Vice-President of Consumer Business and Products at Kraken Exchange, Rachel Anderika, Chief Risk Officer at Anchorage Digital Bank and Veronica McGregor, Chief Legal Adviser at Exodus. Other participants included representatives of WisdomTree, Fidelity Digital Assembly Services and Fireblocks.
“To us, it is crucial to address the issue of trusteeship, because it is one of the most difficult challenges we face in trying to integrate encrypted assets into the regulatory framework”, said Pairce, who is responsible for the SEC Task Force.
It is noteworthy that Uyeda was listed as acting Chairman of the SEC during the 25 April event, although the United States Senate confirmed on 9 April that Paul Atkins would be the new Chairman of the Supervisory Authority. It is not clear when Atkins was sworn in as Chairman of the SEC, but at the time of the publication of the present document the Commission had not included it as a current member.
