With the expansion of the XRP Ledger from the payment network to the original lending and institutional level of DeFi, protocol security is being put ahead. Ripple Development Department RippleX states that the more sophisticated the chain of financial instruments, the more difficult it is for a single audit to cover the full range of risks, and that security processes need to go through all stages of development, testing and uplinking.
Two upgrades into focused reviews
The new process was first used for two key upgrades to the XRPL: Lending Protocol (XLS-66) and Single Assembly Vault (XLS-65). The two functions would introduce borrowing capacity directly into the bookstores, which would also mean that the agreement would have to face greater attacks.
The chief of the RippleX project, Ayo Akinyele, stated that safety could not depend on a final inspection, but that risk should be reduced through continuous testing, independent validation and multilayer protection. RippleX hopes to reduce the problems caused by consensus failures, economic attacks and unexpected interactions between new functions.
AI review and simultaneous advance of public offensives
RippleX also moved the security clearance to the development phase in the context of the AID tool to accelerate the discovery of loopholes. According to the data in the text, more than 130 researchers reviewed the codes of nearly 35.5 million lines C and C++ and submitted hundreds of reports. Following a screening process, the team identified dozens of effective loopholes, including a number of serious problems that had been completed prior to further deployment.
Community testing covers more confrontation scenes
In addition to the regular review, RippleX also mentioned that AI-driven red team tests identified risks that traditional processes might miss, including false system assumptions, potential waste attacks and nodal stability problems.
XRPL Commons also participated in community-side testing, completing hundreds of test cases in different transaction types and confrontation scenarios and obtaining full validation. At the same time, certificationer testing and large-scale fuzzy testing are also integrated into the overall process to complement security checks at different levels.
RippleX indicates that this approach is not limited to XLS-65 and XLS-66. The objective is to transform the overlapping security review into a standard process for subsequent XRPL upgrades, rather than to conduct an isolated inspection only when the functionality is on line.
For XRPL, this means that its positioning is moving further from a payment block chain to a platform for carrying more complex financial infrastructure. As primary lending and institutional-level applications advance, a more stringent test system will also be part of the development of the agreement.
