Amazon has withdrawn the nearly completed Sam Altman feature film Artificial from the distribution slot and has begun to find new distributors for the film. The decision, according to external media reports, followed an investment of $50 billion by the Amazon to OpenAI and raised concerns about the boundaries between content and business relations.

The video has been removed from the distribution schedule

According to Puck, the decision was taken by Mike Hopkins, who was in charge of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios. According to Amazonian sources, the company respects director Luca Guadagnino and his creative team, but believes that the film is more suitable for distribution by other film companies and is therefore working with producers to find new directions for the film.

Currently, the Creative Brokering Company CAA has begun to show the film to potential distributors in an attempt to move the project forward.

The video was allegedly negative for Ottoman.

Artificial by Simon Rich, Andrew Garfield, and Yura Borisov, co-founder of OpenAI, Ilya Sutskever. The video is based on the wave of Ottoman leaving OpenAI CEO in 2023.

It was mentioned that early scripts were not friendly to Otmann and were depicted as powerful and manipulative. The specific sections of the bridge also cite the sharp evaluation of Otmann by computer scientist Geoffrey Hinton.

According to other sources, the tone was darker than the original proposal, and Hopkins decided to stop the original distribution arrangement after watching the clip version.

Time-point overlap with OpenAI investments

This was after the Amazon invested $50 billion in OpenAI. It was also mentioned that Otmann had recently maintained close contact with the Trump Government and that the Amazon and its founder, Jeff Bezos, were maintaining relations with the relevant political circles.

At present, the Amazon does not indicate that the film will be put on hold for good, but rather has a clear desire for other companies to take over. If there is a follow-up to this new slide, the film surrounding OpenAI management may still be released.
