The Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines indicated that local regulators had found the current legal basis to be sufficient to support real-world asset monetization. This statement indicates that the Philippines ' attitude towards RWA is moving from discussion to landing testing and that the products are expected to continue in a regulated environment.
Control release support signal.
Philippine SEC Commissioner Rogelio Quevedo stated at the Philippine Block Chain Week in 2026 that regulators had come to believe that existing legal, regulatory and institutional foundations could accommodate monetized assets.
In his view, monetization had the opportunity to modernize capital markets and improve the availability and efficiency of investment products. Compared to some markets where regulatory pathways are still under discussion, the Philippines has begun to enter the practical testing phase.
A project has been piloted in the sandbox
The Philippines SEC provides a regulatoryly tested environment for financial technology companies through the strategic regulation of sandboxes called StratBox. By November 2025, four companies had entered the project.
- 1 Companies testing real estate monetization products
- 2 Companies Focusing on US Equities
- 1 participant approved to test encryption-related services
This means that the Philippines ' exploration of monetized assets is no longer at the policy level, but is beginning to validate feasibility through specific projects.
Overseas workers are considered as potential beneficiary groups
Quevedo also mentioned that overseas Filipino workers remit large amounts of funds to the country each year, but that many lack compliance and transparent investment channels. Regulatory bodies believe that monetized investment products may provide more regulated options for this part of the funds and reduce the risk of exposure to investment fraud.
The Philippines SEC also indicated that enforcement of illegal investment activities had been strengthened. Quevedo stated that regulators were using artificial intelligence to identify illegal investment schemes and were working with Google, TikTok and other online platforms to develop fraudulent promotions.
If the tests proceed smoothly, monetized assets may in the future provide Filipino investors with a lower threshold of participation, a more fragmented way of investing, and more transparent financial products.
