The winner, John Jumper, left DeepMind to join Anthropic

John Jumper announced his departure from DeepMind to Anthropic. Jumper led the AlphaFold team and received the 2024 Nobel Prize with DeepMind CEO Demis Hassans.

Jumper stated on X that Hassanis had made him head of the AlphaFold team only six months after he graduated as a "real adventure." He added that DeepMind was a special place where he would continue to follow up on the team.

Jumper and Hassabis received the 2024 Nox Award for AlphaFold. AlphaFold is an AI model that predicts a three-dimensional protein structure based on a sequence of genes.

Bloomberg reported that Jumper was also an important member of the Google programming team. Just this week, the co-founder of Character AI, Noam Shazeer, also announced his departure from DeepMind to join OpenAI.
