According to the company, this measure is used mainly for the processing of complaints after the account has been marked, but also for anti-fraud, platform security and enforcement.

According to the policy note, a user who has been triggered may need to upload a passport or driver ' s licence photograph. Anthropic may also collect self-photograms or videos from users and generate a corresponding human face geometry template for the completion of identity matching and age confirmation.

Anthropic states that its identification services were provided by San Francisco Corporation Persona. Users may see verification tips when accessing part of their functionality, which may also appear in routine platform integrity checks or other security, compliance measures.
However, Anthropic did not immediately indicate when the relevant document data would be deleted. According to the company, the length of time during which Persona retained the identity documents was determined by Anthropic. It was also mentioned that as long as the relevant data remained on the server, Persona might still face information requests from the United States Government.
