A new independent research institute has been created in the Asia Pacific. Ethlabs, a non-profit organization, was recently inaugurated with the support of the co-founders of the ETA, Joe Lubin, Bitmine, Sharlink, Anchorage, Octant and SNZ, and positioning as a long-term research on the ETA Core Agreement.

5 Former Foundation Fellows Launched

Ethlabs was created by Ansgar Dietrichs, Barnabé Monnot, Gaspar Schwarz Schlling, Josh Rudolf and Julian Ma. Several people have previously been involved in protocol research at the Etherwood Foundation, covering such directions as expansion, end-endability, data availability, protocol economics and virtual machine development.

Ethlabs states that the establishment of the institution will focus on issues such as settlement speed, network capacity, issuance of raw assets, cross-chain interoperability, and design in Taifung currency. The team stated that it hoped to provide more stable long-term work platforms and financial support for core R & D staff outside the Foundation.

Research focus on institutional infrastructure

In its statement, Ethlabs stated that future research would focus more on the bottom-up facilities required for institutional use, including financial institutions, developers and autonomous AI systems. The Agency believes that, with the increase in transactions on the chain driven by the stable currency, monetized assets, investment products and AI, the public chain needs to be more intrusive, settlement efficient and interoperability.

Executive Director Ansgar Dietrichs stated that the goal of Ethlabs is to advance the core technology of the Taifung and to complement the infrastructure capacity required by the institution during its adoption. Joe Lubin, on the other hand, stated that Ethlabs would operate in parallel with the Etherak Foundation and other independent organizations as another long-term support institution in the Etherak Research and Development System.

Bitmine and Sharplink support

Some of the supporters, such as Bitmine and Sharplink, have recently expanded their input to the Ether factory. It was reported that Bitmine had recently bought a further 52,203 ETH, valued at about $9 million, raising its hold to about 4.7 per cent of the total supply of the Taifeng.

Mr. Tom Lee, Chairman of Bitmine, said that if the use of the Ether House by the agency and AI agents continued to increase, so would the demand for protocol research and technical skills. Sharplink Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chalom linked this funding to “the institutional cycle in the Taishu”, stating that support for core researchers is a direct way for companies to engage in long-term networking.

At the same time, Ethlabs stressed that research decision-making would remain independent despite the fact that funding came from business and ecological actors. Under its disclosure arrangements, external funding will be assessed, screened and disbursed through an independent allotment manager. Donors have access to quarterly reports and annual independent audits, but will not participate in research priorities, technical routes or organizational decisions.
