Ethlabs, a non-profit research and development institution supported by the co-founders of the Ether Workshop, Joseph Lubin, Bitmine and SharpLink, has been officially launched. The main direction of the Agency is research, infrastructure development and promotion, with the aim of promoting the role of the Taifung in the broader economic activities.
The publication appears at a time when the Etherfah Foundation has completed a large-scale organizational restructuring. On 23 June, the Foundation announced the new operating structure and confirmed that 54 employees would leave the organization, approximately 20 per cent of the total number of current staff.
Ethlabs Positioning Independent Research and Development Platform
Ethlabs defines itself as an independent Etherwood R & D centre with a focus on linking protocol development to actual use needs. The organization indicated that in the future it would work with users, applications, wallets, Layer 2 networks, infrastructure providers, institutions, ETH holders, core developers and researchers to translate ecological needs into agreed improvements, shared standards, infrastructure and products.
From the disclosed support framework, participants covered several key links in the ETA ecology, including Uniswap, Base, Optimism, Eigen Labs, Flashbots, Polygon, Coinbase, Nethermind, ENS, L2Beat, and some members of the ETA Foundation.
The foundation reorganization involved 54 departures
According to the Taifung Foundation, this realignment was the result of several months of review of its responsibilities, fund management and organizational focus. The new structure is organized around the levels of Protocol, Access, User, Community and Institutional, while retaining operational and management functions.
Of these, the Protocol layer remains the largest team in the new architecture, showing that the Foundation remains at the centre of the development of the protocol. According to the Foundation, this reorganization is intended to further focus resources on key strategic issues.
R & D collaboration shift to multi-agency sharing
Ethlabs is not the same institution as the Ithera Foundation, but the two messages appear almost simultaneously, reflecting the changing way in which the development of research and development is organized. Over the past years, Etherwood Foundation has been the main centre for research and coordination.
Today, as more ecological actors support independent institutions, R & D responsibilities are gradually being decentralized to multiple organizations. This change is also in line with the long-term focus on decentrization and has begun to extend to ecological R & D and collaborative structures.
