Figma issues a new round of product updates and continues to collaborate on design, prototype and code in the same workflow. This update adds code layer, animation and 3D transformation support, while also expanding the AI Assistant capacity to allow users to generate reusable skills and custom plugins through hints.
Code Layer into Collaborative canvas
Figma directly added the code layer to the multi-player canvas this time. The team can clone the code warehouse in the canvas and can extract the process in the code into a design layer for testing and iterative use.
Figma has previously advanced the design and development interface. The company launched a prototype tool last year, Figma Make, based on the words, and then accessed Claude Code and Codex, hoping to shorten the transition between the draft and the code.
The Chief Product Officer, Figma Yuhki Yamashita, stated that the focus of this function was not on direct output of online code, but rather on allowing designers, product managers and engineers to test ideas more quickly and reduce the requirement for code completeness at an early stage.
Animated and coloured can be done directly.
The new version also includes animated, recast and 3D conversion support. Previously, designers often needed to create animations in other software before they were converted to the application of identifiable codes. Upon updating, this content can be integrated directly into the Figma workflow.
At the same time, users can use AI to generate some material. This update also adds AI support for colorers and filling effects, further reducing external tool switching.

AI Assistant extended to plugin generation
Figma is also continuing to integrate the nodal tool acquired last year, Weavy. The tool was intended to allow designers to run workflows between models and compare output results. According to the company plan, later on-line updates will allow users to generate Weavy workflows directly within Figma.
In the case of AI assistants, users can now create reusable "Skills" through text tips for AI proxy execution. Users can also connect Notion, Granola, Excel and GitHub, or upload files to provide more context for AI.
In addition, Figma has added a function that allows the user to create a custom plugin through a hint, such as a layout generator or a vector path tracking tool. This means that the role of AI in Figma is being further expanded from supporting the generation of content to automating specific tasks.
