Business spending on AI is moving from “encouraging multi-use” to “control consumption”. TechCrunch quoted 404 Media as saying that Accenture is trying to prevent employees from using AI to process some basic work so that the token budget is quickly depleted.
Budget pressure rising
Over the past few months, a number of companies have promoted greater use of AI by their employees and even set up internal rankings to increase their level of activity. Now, as actual bills continue to rise, management is beginning to reassess whether such inputs actually provide sufficient returns.
Accenture compact internal use
Media reports were based on a leaked internal meeting audio. At the meeting, Justice Kwak, the strategic head of Accenture, stated that AI had begun to influence the cost structure of the company and that expenditure had become unpredictable.
High-levels are asking for a return.
Kwak also mentioned that managements such as CFO, COO and CIO were still asking whether the company ' s input on AI really produced value. According to the report, this also reflects the shift of the AI industry from the “fresh and excitement” stage to the stage where it has to prove efficiency and business returns.
