The Coinbase hatched Ether II network, Base, was suspended for more than two hours on Thursday, mainly because of block production anomalies, which prevented the main network from continuing to generate new blocks. The network is now back in operation and related applications and infrastructure services are returning to normal.

Stopping lasts more than two hours.

According to the Base status page, the problem appears around noon, Thursday, Eastern United States time. On that day, at about 12.20, Base indicated on platform X that the main network was suspended due to block production, that the team was working on it and that the user funds were secure.

Around 1 p.m., the team stated that the positioning problem had not been fully repaired at the time. Base then stated that a consensus issue had been isolated, leading to the sorting of an invalid block and thus preventing the new block from continuing to be generated.

The network has recovered.

About an hour later, Base indicated that the sorting and synchronization of new blocks had returned to normal. The team stated that as the application and infrastructure providers restarted and synchronized the Base nodes, the services would gradually be restored.

According to the status page, this is the first block production and filling-related malfunction in the Base main network in the past 90 days. While this break is not particularly long, it still has a direct impact on the availability of the chain and the flow of funds.

Beryl, the upgrade continues.

At the time of this failure, only hours remained from the scheduled upgrade of Base. Base indicates that the network is still moving forward with Beryl ' s hard fork upgrade. The upgrade would introduce a new currency for stability and real-world asset token standard and plan to reduce withdrawal delays.

Base's last, more obvious, operational problem arose in May, when the network experienced a delay of about 30 hours. In contrast, the failure mainly affected the block itself and was more in favour of the bottom-level consensus and sequencing chain.
