OpenAI has started small-scale testing GPT-5.6 series, with the first three models, Sol, Terra and Luna. Since the names were close to Solana, Terra and Luna in the encryption industry, discussions were initiated in the encrypted community shortly after the news was released.
The three models correspond to different levels of capability.
OpenAI blogs that Sol is the flagship of the GPT-5.6 series, Terra, which is more balanced in terms of day-to-day tasks, and Luna, which is a much faster and lower-cost primary response, is an introductory version of the series.
According to the company, this series is between high-end GPT-5.5 and lower-cost products. Of these, Sol added “max” and “ultra” models, mainly for more complex reasoning tasks and proxy workflows.
OpenAI also states that GPT-5.6 has improved its programming, scientific research and network security capabilities over previous versions.
OpenAI name has nothing to do with encryption
Although Sol, Terra and Luna quickly triggered encryption user thoughts, OpenAI did not link these names to any digital asset items. According to the company, these names are intended only to distinguish the capability levels of different models in the GPT-5.6 series.
In the case of the encryption market, the publication itself did not bring about a change at the level of direct business cooperation or tokens, but the name in question rekindled discussions on well-known chain projects such as Solana and Terra and Luna.
It's still in a limited preview phase.
OpenAI states that GPT-5.6 is not fully open for the time being, but is first presented in a limited preview because the company continues to conduct additional security tests. Sol ' s new reasoning model is also primarily oriented towards complex tasks that require longer processing time.
Prior to the release of the preview, the White House had reported that OpenAI was required to control the initial go-live of GPT-5.6. However, OpenAI, in its bulletin, confirmed only the current limited publication and did not directly link this decision to the Government ' s request.
Additional information:OpenAI has also recently released the first custom AI chip that was developed in cooperation with Chase, Jalapeño. According to the company, the chip took nine months to complete, mainly for reasoned loads, serving ChatGPT, Codex and future AI proxy products.
