After only two weeks of suspension, the United States Government began to ease restrictions on the Anthony Cybersecurity Model. According to Semafor and Reuters, the Trump Government has allowed more than 100 United States government agencies and businesses to reuse Mythos 5 to include non-United States employees in those institutions.

The Department of Commerce has approved the re-entry of some of the institutions.

This adjustment meant that the previous ban on access for non-United States personnel had been relaxed. Reports indicate that Anthropic's own non-United States employees were also included in the liberalization, which was also restricted before.

According to Semafor, the United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnik, in a letter to executive Anthropic, stated that the Government had confirmed that “appropriate safeguards” were in place and had therefore allowed some “credible partners” access to the Claude Mythos 5 model.

Critical infrastructure institutions were first granted access

Access is currently granted primarily to United States institutions and enterprises that operate and protect critical infrastructure. Anthropic subsequently confirmed, also on platform X, that the Government had informed the company that Mythos 5 could be redeployed to this part of the organization and that the company was expediting its visit.

Fable 5 not included in current round of liberalization

However, Fable 5 was not covered by this liberalization. The report mentions that this Government directive does not indicate the re-entry of Fable 5.

Fable 5 is a version of Mythos 5. A few days before the ban, it had been issued on a wider scale because it was considered to have more protective measures. However, both models were subsequently withdrawn after safety researchers claimed that the associated protections were more easily bypassed.

Anthropic states that since 12 June, the company has been working with the United States Government to facilitate the restoration of Mythos 5 and Fable 5 access rights. The company stated that Mythos 5 access would be restored to the approved organization first, while continuing to communicate with the Government to further expand the availability of Mythos 5 and re-open Fable 5 to a wider audience.
