X is linking platform capacity more directly to AI tool ecology. With the introduction of officially hosted MCP services, developers can make compatible applications such as Claude, Cursor, Grok Build more easily connected to X and reduce the workload of self-built intermediate services.

Access process hosted by X

MCP is an open standard for connecting the AI model to external tools and services. Previously, developers who want AI assistants to access X usually needed to build their own MCP servers, complete hosting, access X API and process the authentication process.

This part of the infrastructure is now provided directly by X, and users use their X account privileges to complete the authorization. For developers, the change is not in the addition of functions, but in the apparent compression of access steps.

Existing API capabilities are more accessible

Developer could have searched through X-API for content, read posts, query users, and analysed dialogue and trends. The newly launched hosting MCP service does not extend these privileges, but simply makes AI applications more accessible.

It makes it easier for X to position itself as a real-time information network, not just a social platform. As AI products become increasingly dependent on external data sources, the platform ' s ease of access to models is becoming a new point of competition.

Official MCP services are increasing.

X joined the platform providing official MCP services or endpoints. TechCrunch mentions that GitHub, Slack, Notion, Stripe and Salesforce have introduced similar capabilities to facilitate direct access to their services by the AI tool.

Anti-spam restrictions are still in effect.

There are concerns that the lowering of the access threshold may result in an increase in automated postings and garbage information. X indicates that hosting MCP services will not circumvent the existing API rules and that the relevant restrictions will remain in place once the Platform has identified waste behaviour.

Earlier this year, X has updated API v2 to focus on AI generation content, especially for programmable responses. The company has also recently increased the API pricing to US$0.015 for posting and US$0.20 for publishing links to increase the cost of abuse.
