According to the latest United States government disclosure, FBI Director-General Cash Patel bought stock from Bitcoin Treasury Strategy in November last year, amounting to between $100,000 and $250,000. This investment had not previously been disclosed and had it not been sold to date, a deficit of about 44 per cent had been recorded at the latest stock prices.
Buying took place last November.
The file shows that Patel bought Strategy stock on November 21, 2025. At that time, the unit price was approximately $181. At the time of the closing, Strategy's stock price was stated at $100.55, which was a clear fall from when it was purchased.
On the basis of this drop, the carrying loss of the warehouse account is estimated to be between $44,000 and $110,000, depending on the amount actually purchased.
Time disclosure raises concerns
The report mentions that the transaction should have appeared in the financial disclosure documents signed by Patel in early December last year. Under United States federal law, some government officials, including the Director of the FBI, must complete the declaration within 45 days of a securities transaction exceeding $1,000.
However, Patel initially did not disclose the Strategy investment before making corrections to the relevant documents.
Strategy's stock price fell more than bitcoin.
Strategy is one of Wall Street's most interesting Bitcoin Treasury companies. It currently holds more than 84.77 million BTCs, valued at over $520 billion at current prices. Their share price movements are highly correlated with, but more volatile, bitcoin.
Over the past year, the price of bitcoin fell from $106,000 above to about $619 million, a decline of more than 41 per cent. In the same period, Strategy ' s share price fell even more sharply. The unit rose to over $442 last summer and has now fallen more than 77 per cent.
Earlier this week, some analysts have reduced the target price of Strategy from $400 to $260, one reason being the continued weakness of bitcoin.
