The latest statistics by Tokenomist show that, since January 2026, eight encrypted projects have been repurchased in currencies on a larger scale than the increase in circulation supply over the same period. This means that new CDFs have been absorbed by larger buy-backs, resulting in a contraction of market liquidity for some projects.
8 projects
The eight projects are MET, PUMP, GMX, RLB, MPLX, HIPE, LIT and AAVE. The central observation of the article is that the repurchases of these projects have exceeded the rate of expansion in circulation and that supply-side pressures have been clearly hedged.
MET has the highest relative repurchase power
Meteora (MET) is the most prominent relative indicator. Repurchases were equivalent to 71 per cent of the supply in circulation in January of this year, with the highest share in this group of projects, indicating greater absorption of existing repurchases.
HYPE has the highest repurchase value.
In monetary terms, Hyperliquid (HYPE) was the largest repurchase, with a cumulative value of approximately $283 million. At the same time, HYPE ' s supply in circulation decreased by 11 per cent compared to the beginning of the year, indicating that repurchases coincided with supply contractions.
The market will then be concerned about whether the projects will continue the current repurchase pace and whether the repurchase support the number and price performance of negotiable currencies will be sustainable.
