A new F/ai accelerator project is under way in Paris, France. The project was launched in January of this year and the second was planned to start in September, with the aim of helping a small number of AI teams in the early stages of their products to move them to the real-income phase in a relatively short period of time.
The second tranche will start in September.
The State F, created by the billionaire Xavier Niel of France, is an important platform in the French science and technology entrepreneurship landscape. Roxanne Varza, its head, stated to TechCrunch that the core objective of F/ai is to connect the AI entrepreneurship team, which Europe is preparing to start, more directly with large technology companies, cloud service providers and investment agencies, and to lower the threshold for start-ups to enter the industry network.
The first projects have included AMD, Anthropic, AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral AI, OpenAI, Qualcomm and Hugging Face, as well as a number of investment agencies. It was reported that the second batch would also include new collaborators such as Eleven Labs, Nebius, Ripping, OpenRouter, HubSpot and GitHub.
Focus on income rather than exposure.
Unlike many entrepreneurship projects with a strong emphasis on demonstration and road shows, F/ai places greater emphasis on the progress of commercialization. The goal set by Station F is to achieve income of Euro1 million within six months for the selected team. According to Varza, European entrepreneurship companies have often been criticized for the slow pace of commercialization in the past, and the project aims to shorten the cycle from product to income and bring the team closer to the growth rhythm familiar to American investors.
From the data disclosed, the first 20 AI start-ups completed a total of $34 million in pre-seed financing. State F states that 80 per cent of them were created by continuous entrepreneurs, and about one third of the founders had a doctorate. The first two teams have received international attention and received awards in The Pitch Global Finals and OpenAI Codex Hackathon, organized by Deel.
State F borrowing to increase impact
Station F hosts about 1,000 companies a year and selects the best-looking team through the Future 40 competition. TechCrunch last year observed that almost all of the selected companies for this year have integrated AI into their core business. Varza further states that State F has been investing in Future 40 since 2022.
In addition to entrepreneurship services, Station F has gained greater visibility in French and European science and technology policy discussions. Since France's first visit in 2017, President Maclón has received 11 presidential-level visits and has also welcomed Sam Altman and other AI professionals. Station F is currently further importing these resources into F/ai, hoping to demonstrate to entrepreneurs that high-level industry connectivity and development opportunities in Europe are not required to travel to the United States.
