According to foreign media, the CEO of Vercel Guillermo Rauch believed that the AI industry was moving from the prototype phase to production deployment. Enterprises are now more concerned about data access, access to records and cost efficiency than just the capacity of the model itself.
Production deployment to new focus
In an interview with TechCrunch, Rauch stated that the focus of the industry over the past year had been on the rapid testing of various proxy applications. Upon entering this year, businesses began to focus on post-line stability, authority management and physical workflow access.
He mentioned that the two most explicit types of application at present were programming agents and intra-enterprise agents. The former leads to significant token consumption, while the latter is used more for day-to-day operations such as sales, customer management and internal collaboration.
Data control becomes business concern
In his view, the difficulty for internal agents was not to generate content, but rather to secure access to business data, to keep complete operational records and to limit the availability of tools and access. To that end, Vercel launched the Eve frame and Sandbox isolation tool.
Rauch stated that an enterprise could define the instructions and capabilities of the agent in a natural language and then limit its access to data through sandboxes. The focus of this is to avoid that sensitive code or internal information is incorrectly uploaded to the cloud and entered into the training process.
Model-replaceable warming
Rauch believes that the relationship between clients and large model laboratories is changing. Over the past year, many enterprises have tended to bind a single supplier, such as OpenAI or Anthropic; it is now more common to combine models, data platforms, gateways and sandboxes when they are removed.
He indicated that, as enterprises entered the production environment, they would be more concerned with prices and performance, so Gemini was growing and open source models were expanding, including DeepSeek and GM-5.2. Platform competition continues to deepen
For companies such as OpenAI to direct more functions into their products, Rauch believes that this would lead to more direct competition between model and infrastructure platforms. His core judgement was that the industry was deciding whether the “model” and “agent” would be tied for a long time. Vercel hopes to promote a model that is closer to the traditional software engineering, making the model a fungible component on which the enterprise combines tools, data and operating environments.
