Foreign media: Trump has recently praised Dale in public on several occasions and named Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dale for their contribution to the Child Investment Account project. Fortune cited the view of the former White House Ethics Counsel that the President should not publicly endorse a single enterprise, and that such statements could give rise to conflicts of interest and could affect market expectations.
Trump's been talking about Dale many times.
According to the report, Trump mentioned Dale in public events in February, May and July this year. On one occasion, he directly stated that he “go buy a Dale computer”.
Fortune had also previously reported that, approximately nine days before Trump first publicly recommended Dale, an account named after him had disclosed the purchase of $1 million to $5 million in Del stocks. Trump then continued to commend Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dale and their contributions at various events.
The debate has focused on the president's endorsement of the company.
Richard Painter, who served as the White House’s chief ethics attorney in the Bush Administration, said to Fortune that even if he did not discuss whether or not to hold the shares in question, it would be problematic for the President to publicly praise the particular company itself.
In his view, there was a long-standing basic principle in the United States administration that officials should not be endorsed by private enterprises. According to this standard, Trump publicly encourages the public to purchase Dale products, which already constitutes a clear endorsement.
Painter also noted that the market might speculate on this basis whether the President had additional information relating to federal contracts, thereby magnifying the impact of such statements on stock prices.
Dale's up there.
However, another view was cited. According to Patrick Moore, Moor Insights & Strategy's chief analyst, Dale's stock price is still strong, mainly because of the growth of AI server operations rather than the public praise of Trump.
He claims that as the super-massive cloud manufacturer increased the AI infrastructure input, Dale and the nanocomputer became the main competitors for the large AI server order. According to his judgement, Trump ' s stance could have a more significant impact on diaspora sentiment and limited impact on pricing by institutional investors.
On 27 May, the United States Department of Defense also awarded Dale a five-year contract to consolidate Microsoft software licences to a total of $9.7 billion. It was noted, however, that this amount was the contract ceiling and did not amount to income that Dale could immediately recognize.
Dale has contacts with every president.
The article also mentions that it is not new that Michael Dale has been in contact with successive United States Presidents. Whether in George W. Bush, Obama or Trump, he participated in White House-related consultancy or entrepreneurial activities.
Fortune argued that the real cause of the controversy was not the long-standing contacts between the business and the Government, but the fact that the incumbent President had publicly praised a listed company in a more direct manner, and that the company had also intersected with its projects and federal contracts.
