Yield Gild Games announced the closure of the encrypted game distribution department YGG Play and the reduction of 35 posts. The company disclosed that the weak municipal environment, combined with the market pressure on the distribution of games, made it difficult to sustain the business and that the resources for follow-up would be diverted to AI data.

YGG Play ceased operations

According to the company, after the collapse of the market in October last year, retail trade behaviour changed and many consumer-oriented encryption applications relied on a marked decline in liquidity. Bitcoin once fell by $60,000, and a variety of mackerels fell more than 80% higher than before, further reducing the associated operating space.

YGG states that some progress was made in the early years of YGG Play. By the end of the first quarter of 2026, the Department had signed nine games to launch distribution platforms with IP brands such as Pudgy Penguins, with a cumulative revenue of over $9 million, but the company had finally decided to discontinue the business.

35 staff affected

This reorganization will affect 35 employees in different teams. YGG indicated that the employees concerned would be assisted in finding new jobs and that other companies would be welcome to contact them to obtain recommendations for recruitment.

As YGG Play closes down, its official network, Launchpad and the community incentive platform will also be offline, and marketing support for third-party games will cease simultaneously. LOL Land and Waifu Sweeper will cease to operate, and GIGACHADBAT and Ragnarok Breaker will move on from their studios.

Resource to AI Game Data

The company disclosed that resources would then be shifted to the AI data economy, with the first focus being on providing game data sets to business clients for training the AI model. YGG believes that the game process produces high-frequency, complex behavioural data and that decision-making by the player in the game can form a sample of available data.

YGG also indicated that its global community could assist in generating behavioural data through participation in games and related tasks. YGG Alerts has been renamed AI Alerts. According to the company, 27,000 applications were received five days before the channel went online, mainly for remote AI training positions for Filipino workers.

Additional information:YGG states that by the end of the first quarter of 2026, the company ' s treasury assets amounted to $20.6 million, of which $6.2 million was allocated in stable currency, United States Treasury bills and large market value coins; after the current round of restructuring, operating funds could support approximately four years.
