The encryption market in Asia is moving in different directions. Dubai and Taiwan are in the process of establishing formal licensing systems, while India and Russia have placed State control at the heart of digital asset policies.

Dubai licensing progress

The 50th Virtual Asset Service Provider Licence in Dubai shows that regulated encryption companies still favour clear licence paths. The 50th licence granted by the Virtual Assets Control Authority in Dubai to Tribe Tokenism FZE was a milestone that enabled Dubai to outnumber Hong Kong and Singapore in terms of the number of licences, although the number of licences did not reflect the number of active companies or their volume of business.

Taiwan is also advancing its new encryption and stabilization currency bill. The Act requires virtual asset service providers to obtain the approval of the Financial Supervisory Commission before the market operates. Taiwan ' s issuers of stable currency must also obtain the approval of the Central Bank and the Financial Supervisory Commission, and must maintain sufficient reserves and be subject to regular audits.

State control between India and Russia

The Central Bank of India reiterated its position on segregating banks from encryption and private stabilization currency. The Reserve Bank of India allegedly advised legislators that banks should avoid direct access to encryption, while government securities that are monetized should be treated separately from regulated financial products. Russia, for its part, plans to launch a digital ruble on 1 September, with the Governor of the Central Bank saying that “everyone is ready” to do so.

Monetization and compliance

Monetization remains the focus. The Governor of the Bank of Korea, Shin Yong-shin, stated at the European Central Bank Forum that “currencyized government bonds are a huge reward”. He described plans to link the monetization of government bonds, the wholesale issuance of CBDC and the monetization of bank deposits through a single book of accounts.
