SpaceX will officially incorporate NASDAQ 100 on July 7th. Having completed a record IPO entry into this core technology equity index, the tracking fund will be structured according to the rules, but the initial buyout may be of a smaller size than the external visual expectation of its total market value.

Initial weight less than 1%

The market value of SpaceX by reported calibre was close to $2.1 trillion, but, owing to the limited share of negotiable shares, NASDAQ would be given weights by the calibration of the circulation unit. The initial weight of companies entering the index is expected to be less than 1 per cent, which is closer to the level of a company with a market value of about $30 billion.

This means that, while the inclusion of the index would result in the purchase of passive funds, the actual size of the configuration would not correspond entirely to its nominal market value.

QQQQ products will be bought passively

The fund that tracks the NASDAQ 100 index will include SpaceX in the holdroom, including QQQQ ETF under the Invesco flag. QQQQ management assets were reported to be approximately $500 billion, and related products from QQQQQM and State Street and Belet were also covered by passive tracking of funds.

However, because of the small liquidity, the number of equities to be purchased by these funds will decrease accordingly. It is also mentioned that SpaceX is not expected to reach the 500 index for at least one year.

History doesn't necessarily bring about a renewal.

The report mentions that index inclusion does not always trigger a new round of increases. When Palantir entered the NASDAQ 100 index on December 23, 2024, the stock price fell around 25 per cent in the following weeks.

Strategy was also included in the index on the same day. The company ' s share price, which had risen to about $543 in November 2024, has since declined significantly and is currently about $100. A similar case shows that part of the funding may have been completed before it was formally incorporated.

AI conceptual heat is reflected in advance

SpaceX was listed at the stage of the AI infrastructure trade warming. Semiconductor, storage and AI calculator-related stocks have generally risen before IPO and the market's expectations for new shares have risen. This integration index will increase its coverage of mainstream funds, but does not necessarily automatically lead to a new phase of increase.
