The recruitment of the head of the digital assets operations began in Vanguard. This new senior position will consolidate the long-term planning of the company ' s encryption asset and block-chain finance technology, which also shows the long-standing care taken by the management giant in the encryption industry, and is expanding the scope of its assessment of the relevant operations.
Job cover stable currency and tokenization
On the basis of post information, the incumbent will develop a multi-year digital asset road map, assess opportunities in the areas of monetization, stabilization of coins, digital wallets, hosting, block-chain settlement and coordinate product, technology, operation, legal and compliance teams to advance implementation.
Job responsibilities also include advising management on changes in the digital asset market, participating in communication with regulators and industry organizations, and determining whether Vanguard should build its own capacity, work with third parties or suspend access to some markets.
From opening ETF transactions to expanding assessment
Vanguard manages assets of about $10 trillion in size. In the past few years, when BlackRock, Fidelity and Franklin Templeton introduced the Bitcoin spot ETF and other block chains, Vanguard has been a more cautious organization with respect to encrypted assets.
This position began to change last December. Vanguard, who at the time allowed the encryption of ETFs and related mutual funds for brokering clients, had still not introduced its own encrypted investment product. The company then argued that digital assets were not consistent with its long-term investment concept.
We're not pointing to our own product.
This recruitment does not mean that Vanguard is about to launch a new encryption product, but its focus is no longer limited to opening up third-party fund transactions to clients. The new position will be responsible for the design of multi-year planning and will also establish governance and risk management arrangements to assess how digital assets can be integrated into the wider wealth management business of the company.
The current CEO Salim Ramji was in charge of iShares operations at BlackRock. The iShares flag has launched the first-sized bitcoin spot ETF-IBIT. Before joining Vanguard in 2024, Ramji had stated that, without introducing its own Bitcoin ETF and Vanguard ' s investment philosophy, institutions should be consistent in their products and services.
Overall, Vanguard has not yet moved to the direct distribution of encrypted investment products, but has begun to prepare more systematically for digital asset-related capabilities.
