Michael Saylor recently reviewed Strategy's bitcoin layout over the past few years. The company disclosed that Strategy was once under considerable financial pressure at a time when the market had weakened significantly in 2022, but has since continued to push for financing and increase the holding of bitcoin.

It was low in 2022.

Saylor states that at the time of his speech in October 2022, Bitcoin was worth about $20,000, Strategy had approximately 130,000 BTCs at that time, valued at about $2.6 billion at that time.

He also mentioned that, after adjusting for the break-down, MSTR was at a stock price of approximately $24. In the following weeks, bitcoin fell even further, one time falling by $16,000, and the pressure on companies rose.

Increased under debt pressure

According to Saylor, in the prevailing market environment, Strategy ' s debt was once about $300 million higher than the combined value of its Bitcoin hold and cash reserves.

Despite this, the company has not reoriented in the long term, but has continued to advance its Bitcoin buy-in programme. Saylor states that Strategy has since accumulated more than $60 billion in additional capital and spent this money on the expansion of the Bitcoin hold.

The holding warehouse increased to 846,000 BTCs.

According to its disclosures, since 2022 Strategy has purchased more than 71.66 million BTCs and now has a total hold of more than 84.66 million.

  • About 130,000 BTCs in October 2022
  • Since then, more than 716,000 BTCs have been purchased
  • Current total hold exceeds 846,000 BTC

This means that Strategy’s Bitcoin reserves have grown significantly from about 130,000 in 2022, and have further reinforced its Bitcoin-centred corporate treasury strategy.
