Risk avoidance in the Bitcoin derivatives market is rising. The data on options transactions show that investors have recently shown a clear preference for buy-in and fall-back protection, reflecting the market ' s concern that prices continue to decline. However, if the forthcoming release of the core PCE inflation data for the United States is weaker than expected, this mirage could be quickly corrected.

I'm looking at a high premium.

The market data cited by CoinDesk show that the bitcoon one-cycle bias has been close to 25 points, indicating a significant premium on lower options relative to higher options, with short-term funds more inclined to pay for downside risks.

A similar situation occurred in early February this year. At that time, the price of the fall options was also rising rapidly, and bitcoin subsequently formed a stage low above $60,000 and sustained it in the following months.

Core PPE is the focus

The U.S. will publish the May core PCI, the core PCE. The exclusion of food and energy price volatility from this indicator is seen as a more important reference to inflation by the Fed.

The market currently projects an increase of 3.4 per cent in the core PCE in May, up from 3.3 per cent in April. If the actual data fall short of expectations, the deflationary pressure on which the basis is usually interpreted will be reduced and the market's wager on the Fed's continued interest rate hike will be weakened.

Expected impact of the fall in oil prices

The article also mentioned that oil prices had fallen significantly in the recent past, which had caused some lag in the inflation figures. WTI crude oil futures have been reduced to the vicinity of $70, below the level that once exceeded $100 during the Iranian war in March and April.

The economist Mohamed A. El-Erian, on social platforms, said that the market was currently more concerned than whether inflation data had risen, but to what extent they had lagged behind recent changes in energy prices. If oil prices continue to fall, future pressures on both overall and core inflation may be reduced.
