The recent fermentation on social platforms around SWIFT's possible access or support for XRP. However, this rumour was quickly denied by the former executive responsible for the SWIFT digital asset strategy.
Rumours are from social platform accounts.
It was reported that several social platform accounts this week focused on XRP stated that SWIFT would not introduce its own digital currency, but might instead turn to supporting existing public tokens such as XRP. In part, it was stated that SWIFT did not intend to compete with projects such as XRP, but would choose to cooperate.
However, these elements were not accompanied by public evidence and no corresponding official statement.
Former executive responded "not happening."
The former SWIFT executive, Zschach, who was responsible for the digital asset strategy, then responded to the statement, denying the rumour in a brief statement that it “would not happen”.
The response was quickly interpreted by the market as a direct cooling of the expression “SWIFT” in support of the expression “XRP”.
His own long-standing challenge to XRP
The report mentions that the former executive has been critical of Ripple and XRP in the past and has publicly questioned the actual usefulness and decentrization of the XRP.
He had also previously compared Ripple technology to a “fax machine” in the Internet era, and found that Ripple's continuity in the long-standing proceedings with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission did not amount to institutional-level resilience being proven.
Additional information:Public information indicates that Zschach worked for the Bank of America, Barclays and Lehman Brothers. After leaving SWIFT, he recently joined a new infrastructure team involving Oxford, Harvard and Cambridge researchers.
