Research at the University of Cambridge Alternative Finance Centre estimates annual electricity consumption at 7.87 GWh in Taifung, which corresponds to a continuous demand of about 0.90 MW. The study showed that the ETA ranks lower in energy intensity in the chain of major equity proof blocks.

The study measured 8,522 nodes and calculated the electricity demand for each node to be approximately 105 watts. Following the integration of the ETA, electricity demand decreased by more than 99.9 per cent and the remaining emissions were mainly from grid sources. Although the ETA is higher than most networks in absolute electricity consumption, its adjusted market value ranks second after the BNB chain in energy intensity.

Cambridge estimates are based on direct power measurements rather than a single assumption for each node. The researchers tested 20 combinations of the main executive and consensus software clients of the Taifung, resulting in a network weighted average of about 105 watts. The United States, Germany, Finland and France together account for 62 per cent of the total.

The source of electricity in the East and West is now mainly affecting its carbon footprint. Cambridge estimates that 39.4 per cent of electricity comes from renewable sources, 17 per cent from nuclear energy and 43.6 per cent from fossil fuels. The study noted that, following the merger, the continuous electricity demand for the Etherpo fell from approximately 2.4 GW to 0.90 MW, a reduction of more than 99.9 per cent.

Related reports indicate that the energy consumption of the interest certification system is 99.9 per cent lower than the workload certification network. The latest data from Cambridge provide an update on hardware and hosting that has been merged with the Taifeng. While total annual electricity consumption in the Taifeng is higher than in most similar networks, it ranks higher after market value adjustments.
