Nous Research, the open-source Hermes-Agent Development Corporation, is conducting a new round of financing with investors, such as Robot Ventures, valued at $1.5 billion and planning to raise at least $75 million. The company just completed $50 million in round A finance less than three months ago. The company did not respond when we asked Nous Research for comments.
Nous Research was created in 2023 by Jeffrey Quesnele, Karan Malhotra, Ryan Teknium and Shivani Mitra. Prior to this round of financing, the company raised a total of $7 million from investors such as Paradigm, Robot Ventures, North Island Ventures, OSS Capital and Balaji Srinivasan.
In addition to Hermes ' development, Nos Research established a decentrized network to provide the hardware needed for computing and training. In addition, the company has published language models that focus on programming and mathematics.
A few weeks after Openlaw's agent went red, Nos Research released its own competitive product Hermes. Unlike Openclaw, Hermes is equipped with built-in “skills”, such as web search, programming and image understanding, designed to learn user usage automatically and build more skills without intervention.
Users can use Hermes to automate and chat with these agents or receive messages through applications such as Telegram and Discord. These tools are becoming more popular as users want to run AI agents around the clock.
As an open source project, Hermes has accumulated a large group of fans on GitHub, obtaining about 214,000 starmarks and nearly 40,000 branches. Developer can run Hermes on a desktop or virtual private server.
Nous Research also provides cloud hosting versions, which some users may find more friendly and avoid setting up on their own machines. The rates for the hosting version range from $20 to $200 per month.
According to sources, the new round of financing will further help expand Hermes ' product and business models.
