The United States Government has recently transferred approximately $288 million of bitcoin and ETA to Coinbase Prime. Once the chain tracker Arkham records the relevant transfers, the market discusses whether the assets may enter the sales process.

What assets were transferred?

The assets included approximately 3,800 BTCs, valued at approximately $235 million, and about 30,000 ETHs, valued at approximately $53 million. Bitcoin came from the Ryan Farace, BTC-e cases, partly through the transit wallet and then into Coinbase Prime.

Coinbase Prime

Coinbase Prime was selected as a digital asset hosting and trading service by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2024. Industry sources point out that the transfer of assets to the platform does not amount to a sale, or that the Government may simply centralize seized assets in a managed hosting account.

Why is the market concerned?

The transfer took place after an executive order was signed in March 2025 in Trump. The Executive Order established a strategic bitcoin reserve and required the Government to enter the reserve not to sell bitcoin. However, the rules mainly cover bitcoin, where final confiscation proceedings have been completed, and the assets continue to come from active criminal cases.

The Ether House is not under the same rule. The article mentions that it belongs to another set of digital asset inventory arrangements, which the Ministry of Finance can administer within its legal competence. Arkham is still tracking the possession of approximately $20.6 billion of encrypted assets in United States Government wallets, including 324,552 BTCs.
