Morgan Stanley formally entered the encrypted transaction into E*Trade, and certified customers can now buy and own bitcoin, Ether and Solana on the platform. This means that the business side of the Bank is further integrating encrypted assets into retail vouchers, where users can view the holding stock together with assets such as stocks.
The company disclosed that the service had been completed in cooperation with the digital asset infrastructure provider, Zero Hash. Related encrypted assets are not held directly by Morgan Stanley but are stored in the associated Zero Hash account. Morgan Stanley stated that the transaction would charge 50 basis points and that the transfer function was expected to be rolled out later in the year.
The first to support three types of spot assets
The currencies currently open include BTC, ETH and SOL, which are spot transactions and do not involve leverage or derivatives. Morgan Stanley stated that the client could view this part of the encrypted warehouse directly within the E*Trade interface, thus creating a uniform presentation with existing securities accounts.
- Support assets: Bitcoin, Ether, Solana
- Client: E*Trade Clients
- Hostage and execution: provided by Zero Hash
Cost and account structure defined
According to the company, the implementation and hosting of this service is carried out by external partners and Morgan Stanley is responsible for providing access and account integration experiences at the voucher platform. This also indicates that the Bank continues to work with the Digital Assets Infrastructure Corporation (DII) as it advances its encryption operations.
Morgan Stanley states that the transaction cost at this stage is 0.5 per cent. With regard to the transfer of encrypted assets to and from the transfer function, the platform has not yet been opened simultaneously and is expected to be online later this year.
Digital asset operations continue to expand
This is a continuation of Morgan Stanley's encrypted layout over the past year. As early as September 2025, the company disclosed that it planned to land through Zero Hash in E*Trade in support of BTC, ETH and SOL.
In January of this year, Morgan Stanley also submitted to the United States SEC the relevant registration documents for the spot bitcoin and Solana ETF, starting to advance his own brand-owned encrypted investment product. In April, the Bank also indicated that it was studying monetization, monetized money market funds and digital asset tax administration tools. Subsequently, Morgan Stanley launched a money market fund for stable currency issuers for reserve management.
Overall, this off-line spot transaction at E*Trade shows Morgan Stanley is further extending encryption from ETF and institutional products to voucher platform services for retail customers.
Additional information:The term “conforming customer” does not disclose more specific access criteria, nor does it indicate whether the service will be opened in stages by region.
