Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky's account X is suspected of having been attacked by a cyber attack this week. The assailants used the account to issue various messages focusing on “real world asset monetization”, which was subsequently deleted. Informed sources indicated to Fortune X that the matter had been processed by the security services under a high-priority account and Chesky had since regained control of the account.

It's obviously an anomaly.

The deleted text clearly expresses the monetization of real world assets, stating that this direction is moving from noise to real application. Real-world asset monetization usually refers to the conversion of traditional assets, such as equities, into chain digital monetizations.

Chesky usually publishes on X the Airbnb product update, the related content of the financial statements, and the business thinking of the company, and has also publicly solicited suggestions for business improvements from users. In contrast, this successive speech, which revolves around encrypted monetization, was perceived by many users as manifestly incompatible with their daily expressions.

AI Generate marks to challenge

Soon after the event fermented, a large number of "AI slop" challenges emerged in Chesky Account Review. This term usually refers to a low-quality, manual-to-manual AI generation.

Some users point out that this set contains strong AI marks on the tone, sentence and use of the logo. Joseph Weisenthal, a commentator for Bloomberg, also mentioned the lack of commas and other details in the text, which present typical AI writing features.

According to Fortune, following an analysis of the content using the AI test tool Pangram, the system has determined that these messages are 100% generated by AI. Airbnb did not comment publicly.

X Account control restored

Airbnb, seen in Fortune, exchanged information with X employees, the incident was reported to the X platform security team and marked as a “high-profile account invasion”. X completed the account protection measures on Tuesday night and Chesky resumed access.

The report mentions that this unusual set of posts was initially written in response to a user who referred to the recent interview with CNBC by Robinwood CEO Vlad Tenev about the warming of the real world asset monetization market.

AI Low quality content continues to spread

Chesky had previously publicly confirmed the value of AI to Airbnb and was reportedly preparing a new AI laboratory. But the event again magnified the other side: the low-quality text, images and videos generated by AI are increasingly appearing on social platforms.

Pangram's latest analysis shows that about a quarter of long social media content is generated by AI, while almost half of the long "Articles" content of X platform contains AI writing material. The head of the platform, including Substack and YouTube, has also recently focused on low-quality AI content.

Additional information:The brief takeover of the social platform executive account was not the first time. In 2016, several social accounts of Mark Zuckerberg were invaded; in 2019, the account of the co-founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, was briefly controlled.
