The Coinbase Product Manager Jordan Fish (more often known as Cobie in industry) indicated that Coinbase had become increasingly disconnected from primary encryption users over the years and that some avoidable failures in the Base ecology had further weakened community trust. This is a statement that comes at a time when outsiders are constantly asking how Base can reattract users in the chain.

Base App has been adjusted

Cobie states that he took over the business of Base App and Coinbase trading products a few days ago, but did not take responsibility for the Base block chain itself. Base Director Jesse Pollak also confirmed that he had handed over App to Cobie, and that he would then focus more on the Base web level.

This means that Cobie is currently responsible not only for Base App, but also for Coinbase's main application and wider trading product lines. Before this readjustment, Base did not advance on social products as originally expected by the team.

Community questions about trust

Encrypted commentator Rune has publicly questioned why Base still lacks trust in management decision-making in order to attract more users into the chain. In his view, Base ' s infrastructure was still competitive, but it would be more difficult to regenerate if the way the team interacts with the community remained unchanged.

Cobie responded that such problems could not be resolved within a week or within a month. He plans to listen more closely to the users of the chain and to establish a more direct link between the product development team and those who actually use the Coinbase product.

Product focus shift to transactions and payments

This management adjustment is also related to the broader replacement of Base ' s products in the near future. Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, had previously acknowledged that Base had “broken” on related matters. Since then, Base has turned more attention to transactions, payments and AI-related products.

At the same time, Base has experienced a number of technological and product-level setbacks in recent months. In June, the network had a consensus issue over non-functional blocks, which were interrupted for almost two hours. Pollak stated at the time that user funds had not been affected, but also acknowledged that such failures were unacceptable for the infrastructure that was oriented towards all-weather financial activities.

In terms of infrastructure expansion, Base recently introduced the B20 token standard, which allows developers to issue stable coins and tokenized assets with issuer control functions. The standard was introduced following the upgrading of the Beryl network and as part of Base ' s continued booking of transactions and financial applications.

Cobie also stated that restoring trust requires continuous investment, with a continued focus on making products that users really need. Rune then added that Base ' s bottom network still had the opportunity to remain competitive in the main Layer 2, provided that the team returned the user to the decision-making centre.

Additional information:Cobie joined the company after acquiring the chain-based financing platform that Coinbase created. Coinbase announced in October 2025 the acquisition of Echo at $375 million, which also gave Cobie greater product responsibility within the company.
