The Google parent company Alphabet is promoting a new AI server chip with the goal of enabling its own Gemini model to perform more generation tasks at a lower cost. After the news came out, the market interpreted it as the latest move by Google to improve the efficiency of AI input output.

Code Frozen v2

According to the Information, the internal designator of the chip, “Frozen v2,” is expected to be launched in 2028. It was mentioned that, if research and development were well under way, the chip could be 6 to 10 times more efficient than the existing Google AI chip, measured by the number of tokens generated per unit of electricity.

When TechCrunch testified to Google in this regard, Google did not directly confirm the report, but did not deny it. According to the company, the team has been studying and testing new technologies to enhance performance and efficiency for both users and customers and to emphasize its coordinated design of software and hardware.

Technology Corporation speeds up self-study.

In recent times, large AI companies have been accelerating their self-study chip layout, mainly because of two main reasons: global AI is still under stress, and companies want to reduce their dependence on British hardware. For a long time, Weida has dominated the AI chip market, which has also subjected major model manufacturers to single suppliers in terms of infrastructure.

In addition to Google, OpenAI published in June its first self-study chip, which is located as a reasoned processor, codenamed “Jalapeño”. Earlier this month, there were reports that Anthropic was working with Samsung on a new chip.

Market interest in return for capital expenditure

As AI infrastructure inputs continue to expand, investors ' concerns about the magnitude of the costs of the technology giants are rising. Google had previously indicated that it planned to invest between $18 billion and $19 billion this year to advance the AI strategy. For the market, the key is not just the size of the inputs, but whether they translate into greater efficiency and competitiveness.

Against this background, the news of more efficient chips alleviates some of the market concerns. Alphabet stock price increased by about 3 per cent on Monday after the release of the Information report. Later this week, Google will also publish its financial statements, and the market will observe further the relationship between its AI input and its profit performance.
