Ripple, former Chief Technical Officer David Schwartz, once again spoke about his earlier decision to reduce the security asset. He indicated that, of course, looking back would regret having sold XRP and Ethera at a lower price, but that the starting point was risk control rather than the encryption industry.
Sell XRP and ETH in low places
In response to the discussion at platform X on 20 July, Schwartz stated that he had agreed with his wife that, as long as the home had a new level of encrypted assets, a part of them would be sold gradually to reduce the overall risk exposure. He claims that he has been very averse to financial risk and has therefore chosen to continue to reduce the pace of the increase.
Schwartz states that he started selling at an early age when XRP was in the vicinity of $0.10 because it appeared at that time that the price was already high. He also mentioned that at that time he even considered that the chances of an XRP rising to 0.25 dollars were not high.
With regard to the ETA, he had previously revealed that he had sold about 40,000 ETHs at a price of about $1.05 per item. He later indicated that if it was thought that there was a very small probability of rising to thousands of dollars, it would not be sold at that price.
Personal encryption convertible has dropped significantly.
In addition to XRP and ETH, he admitted that a large amount of bitcoin had been sold at prices well below subsequent market levels. According to him, these operations are all part of the same line of thinking: priority is given to reducing volatility rather than to bet on the maximum return over the long term.
Schwartz used to hold XRP on a much larger scale than it is now. Public statements indicate that his XRP holdout, which was about 26 million, continued to decline. In May of this year, he indicated that, with the exception of Ripple equity, he had transferred a significant portion of his wealth to encrypted assets.
This means that he still has a financial connection to the digital asset industry, but more from Ripple equity than directly holding large amounts of currency. As he did not make a complete disclosure of his current portfolio, the outside world is unable to determine exactly how much XRP, bitcoin or Ethera he still holds.
Continue with XRP Legger
Although Schwartz was removed from his day-to-day position as Chief Technical Officer of Ripple at the end of 2025 and transferred to CTO Emeritus, he did not quit the ecology. He had previously indicated that he would continue to develop codes, run an independent XRP Ledger infrastructure and study new uses of the XRP.
After entering 2026, he was still involved in XRPL community affairs. It was mentioned that in June he had supported the XRP Ledger 3.2.0 upgrade, which related to infrastructure and tools related to DeFi, borrowing and monetization assets.
Recently, he also continued to speak out on legal disputes related to XRP and SECP, stressing that the court had later distinguished between the token itself and a particular sales situation. It was also part of the context of his recent public discussions on the pricing, liquidity and history of the XRP.
