Deribit commenced further access to Coinbase ' s trading infrastructure after Dubai obtained new licences. Some of the spot orders submitted by Platform clients in Deribit could be executed by Coinbase Exchange in the future, with the consequent expansion of the range of assets covered by the spot product.

Short order access Coinbase

Deribit this time obtained a broker licence issued by the Virtual Assets Control Authority of Dubai VARA. Having obtained this approval, Deribit can link the spot order route on the platform to Coinbase Exchange and execute it.

Deribit had previously provided spot transactions in January 2025 on the basis of VARA’s exchange service plates. The purpose of the new licence is to connect the original spot service to the centralised order book of Coinbase.

Expansion of tradable assets

With the order execution end-to-end access to Coinbase Exchange, Deribit clients will also have access to hundreds of additional assets listed in Coinbase. Deeper mobility usually means better terms of dealing, and the trade price differential is expected to narrow.

The article mentions that assets purchased through upgraded spot products may also be used as collateral for the Deribit derivatives trade, subject to regulatory approval. This has further enhanced the linkage between the platform's live and derivatives.

  • The spot order can be executed by Coinbase Exchange
  • Clients have access to hundreds of new assets.
  • Some spot assets can be used for derivative collateral

Dubai license cover continues to expand.

Deribit states that upgraded spot-based services will be open to retail, qualified and institutional investors. At the same time, the original physical order book of the Platform will remain, but will cover a small number of assets and may serve as a back-up execution channel.

This licence further reinforced Deribit's regulatory layout in Dubai. The exchange has previously obtained VARA approval for derivatives operations and has operated in Dubai as the global headquarters under VARA supervision since early 2025.

From the perspective of business integration, this is another example of how Coinbase and Deribit, when combined, began to move to a product-specific level. Deribit provides a derivative platform and a client portal, while Coinbase complements the spot liquidity and implementation capacity.
