Tether states that KPMG has completed a full audit of its financial statements for the financial year 2025 and issued an unqualified opinion. This was the first time that the USDT issuer had completed a full financial audit, which was higher than its quarterly stock assurance, which had been issued over the years.

Audit coverage of transactions, systems and assets

The company disclosed that the audit not only examined the size of the reserve at a given point in time, but also covered transaction records, systems, asset valuation, counterparties and ownership documents. Tether further states that the auditors carried out a physical inventory and inspection of its gold holdings.

According to the company, as at 31 December 2025, its reserves were overburdened with liabilities of US$ 68.14 billion. KPMG audited the financial statements of Tech International as at the end of 2025.

It's different from the quarterly audit.

Tether used to issue quarterly assurance reports. The assurance usually only checks specific information for a given date, such as the level and composition of the reserve. The full financial audit will further examine assets, liabilities, income, cash flows and supporting evidence, and more broadly.

This has also been one of the focus of attention for many years. As the largest global currency for stability, USDT has long been used for encrypted transactions and financial settlements, and its reserve transparency and ability to pay has been a source of market concern.

The USDT scale is over $180 billion.

As the USDT market value rises to over $180 billion, the market significance of the related audit progress increases. It was mentioned that Tether had become one of the major buyers of United States Treasury debt in recent years and that those assets were also an important part of its reserves.

Tether had indicated in March of this year that a firm of “four” accountants had been engaged to facilitate the first full-scale audit. This company confirmed that KPMG was the United States. The four leading accounting firms include Deloitte, Ernst and PwC.

In his statement, CEO Tether Paolo Ardoino stated that the company ' s inability to complete such audits had been questioned over the years and that this result meant that the work had landed.

Additional information:The article information is mainly from Tether's unilateral disclosure and is currently not available for KPMG to issue a complete audit document to the public separately.
