KPMG disclosed that the United States had completed a complete independent audit of the financial statements of Tech International 2025 and issued an unqualified opinion. This means that the auditor considers that its financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the company, the results of its operations and the cash flow.

Audit coverage of complete financial statements

As of 31 December 2025, the audit was executed by KPMG in the United States, one of the four leading accounting firms. Unlike the stock certificates issued by Tether on a regular basis in the past, the audit covered complete financial statements rather than only partial verification of reserve assets.

Tether states that the audit process not only examined the balance sheet but also reviewed the transaction records, the internal system, the ownership documents, the valuation methodology, the counterparty to the transaction and the data and evidence supporting the financial statements.

Reserves over liabilities $6,814 million

As a result of the audit, at the end of 2025, Tether ' s reserves were larger than its liabilities by $68.14 billion. This may be considered as an additional buffer against the holder of the coin.

  • Audit Institution: KPMG USA
  • Audit period: Fiscal year ended 31 December 2025
  • Reserve surplus: $6,814 million

Unqualified opinions were the most positive type of conclusion in the audit report, indicating that the audit body had not qualified, excepted or conditioned. For the stable currency industry, which has been under long-term scrutiny, this result means that Tether ' s financial disclosure for the first time passed external verification at the full annual audit level.

Raise the threshold of transparency in the stabilization currency

Tether management considers this audit to be an important development in building corporate transparency. Chief Executive Officer Paolo Ardoino stated that there had been a long-standing external challenge to Tether's ability to complete the full audit and that the result had been a direct response.

At the industry level, the stabilization currency has been widely used for use, savings, remittances and transactions. As regulatory discussions continue, the issuer ' s acceptance of a full financial audit is becoming a more direct measure of market transparency and robustness.

Additional information:Tether also claims that USD ₮ has been used daily by more than 650 million users in emerging markets. The audit may also have prompted the market to pay more attention to other stable currency issuers ' arrangements for reserve disclosure and external audit.
