Conflux has scheduled v3.1.1.0 hard fork on August 25 and requires nodal operator to complete upgrade before the network reaches target epoch. This update will activate seven web-based proposals, with a focus on enhancing compatibility with the Etherma ecology and repairing existing problems in trade, pledge and cross-space calls.

Node upgrade by August 25.

Conflux stated in its announcement at the beginning of August that all nodes would have to be installed before the block chain reached epoch 155140,000 v3.1.0, which is expected to be 25 August. Because the speed of block generation affects the actual trigger time, the projecter uses epoch as the official threshold rather than a fixed time point.

If the node is upgraded by the deadline, the operator needs only to install a new version and restart the system. Conflux suggested that the process be completed within two days of the start of the upgrade. If the target epoch is missed, nodes will need to clear the existing chain data, re-install the latest version and redownload the network records.

The project party also cautioned that the continued stay in the old version of the software would not be fully compatible with the upgraded chain and that the relevant nodes might not be able to synchronize new blocks, process transactions or even continue mining. This update also requires the replacement of key profiles, which will not be able to start nodes with more rigorous verification.

7 proposals entered into force simultaneously

CIP-166, 167, 172, 173, 174, 175 and 176 are enabled for this hard fork. Of particular interest are eSpace-related changes. Conflux states that 3 proposals will bring eSpace closer to the latest standards of the Taipei and facilitate compatibility of smart contracts, wallets and tools based on the Taipei.

CIP-166 Introduction of new operational instructions to maintain consistency with the new YCP standards; CIP-167 Increase direct support for a category of digital signatures that have been adopted by the WebAuthn and Passkey login system; CIP-174 limits the size of data that can be submitted for high-calculating loads and increases the associated transaction costs to reduce over-abundance requests over-exploiting network resources.

Conflux ' s recent emphasis on eSpace is also related to the scope of the platform support. The Korea Exchange Upbit previously restricted CFX to refilling and cashing only through Conflux eSpace, and reminded users that the asset recovery process could be longer if transferred through Core Space or other unsupported networks.

Trade and pledge restoration

In addition to the enhancement of compatibility, four other proposals were mainly used to repair problems in existing network behaviour. CIP-172 requires a uniform format for each transaction that is included in a block. Conflux states that existing problems may result in multiple identification codes for the same transaction, which are often relied upon by chain services to locate and validate transfers.

The CIP-173 addresses issues in the interest certification certifier dispute processing process and extends the existing CFX pledge locking mechanism to a certifier who has started to extract all the pledges. This proposal is expected by the project participants to enter into force on 26 August at POS block 3749,400.

CIP-175 Fixes the permission recognition issue for partial calls between Core Space and eSpace; CIP-176 amends the preparation of access list data prior to transaction execution to avoid only processing the last record when the same account appears repeatedly.

Security patches are not available for details

Conflux states that the non-disclosure of the security repairs was intended to avoid the attackers using relevant information to launch the attack while part of the nodes had not been upgraded. The affected software component will not be disclosed by the project party until the hard-drive has been completed and the nodes have had time to migrate to the protected version.

Additional information:Conflux mentioned that a contractual deployment gap was similarly repaired in March 2025. After the ecological team GraFun had privately reported the problem, the projector completed the repairs in v2.5 and awarded 60,000 CFX awards.
