The long-term Dotsra investor Ross Gerber recently stated on platform X that he no longer took bitcoin seriously, one reason being the growing dissatisfaction with the practice of the co-founder of Strategy, Michael Saylor. This statement brings to the fore again the discussion around Strategy bitcoin strategy.

Gerber called for criticism, Saylor.

Gerber wrote that Saylor made him “disinterest in bitcoin” and that it is difficult to take this asset seriously anymore. Over the past few months, he has repeatedly and publicly criticized Strategy ' s pattern of continued buy-in of bitcoin on debt and capital market finance.

In his view, Saylor ' s public position was not consistent with Strategy ' s practice. Gber's criticism escalated further, especially after Strategy started selling some bitcoin. In early August, he wrote that he had never sold bitcoin and used it to compare Strategy ' s operations.

The controversy is focused on the pace of the sale.

In recent months, Gber has repeatedly questioned Strategy ' s trading patterns, arguing that its high-level buying and low-solding practices have undermined market confidence. He also linked the recent weakness of bitcoin to the impact of Saylor on the market.

According to him, when there is a gap between the operations of large players and public statements, it is easy to increase the pressure on the liquidation of speculative funds and create a negative cycle. This is one of the central reasons why he criticized Strategy.

  • Garber has been in the encryption market since at least 2018.
  • In 2021, he said he was concerned about bitcoin and Ethera for about seven years.
  • He used to see bitcoin as an anti-inflation tool and digital gold.

I've changed my attitude.

Although Gber has long publicly supported Bitcoin, his personal configuration has also been adjusted in recent years. In March 2025, Business Insider reported that Gber had sold most of the Bitcoin hold-up and diverted some of its funds to gold.

This means that Gber ' s negative assessment of the bitcoin is not only a public criticism of Saylor, but reflects a change in his own perception of such assets. For the market, such well-known investors ' statements are more emotional and cognitive than for the market, but in the context of the continuing interest in Strategy, it is possible that the discourse on business bitcoin strategies may be magnified.
