Bank Leumi, Israel ' s largest bank, disclosed that it planned to provide encrypted asset trading services to its clients from early 2027 onwards. At that time, users can buy, hold and sell bitcoin, Ethera and Solana within the existing bank platform. It was also the first Israeli bank to make a public commitment to provide such services directly to domestic retail customers.

Trading access to existing applications

This service does not introduce new encryption applications in isolation, but is directly embedded in an independent and secure area in the application of the Leumi Trade capital market. The same service will be provided to the clients of Leumi Digital Bank Pepper.

The bank practice is clear: it places encrypted transactions in the existing regulated banking interface, rather than directing customers to open accounts on external exchanges. For users, this means that trading in shares, securities and encrypted assets will be done at the same entry point.

The first to support three tokens.

The first on-line assets were of a more limited range, including only bitcoin, Ether and Solana. This is significantly narrower than a common encryption platform, indicating that Leumi prefers to enter more liquidly and commercially acceptable assets.

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • ETH
  • Solana (SOL)

Galaxy provides transactions and hosting

According to the joint statement, Galaxy Digital will provide the full infrastructure for this service. Of these, the transaction will be completed through the GalaxyOne Industrial platform and the hosting will use the infrastructure previously known as GK8 under Galaxy.

This means that Leumi places the execution of transactions and the hosting of assets in the same body, facilitating a uniform interface between operations and compliance. For Galaxy, it was also the first bank client it had acquired in Israel.

The details of the costs have not yet been published

At present, the parties have not published commercial terms, transaction costs and which customers may use the service. The details are expected to be further clarified by 2027.

From an industry perspective, this move reflects the efforts being made by traditional banks to integrate digital asset services into their own product systems rather than relying entirely on external platforms. If Leumi proceeds well and other Israeli banks follow up, this may affect the speed with which the local banking sector has reached out to encrypted asset services.

Additional information:According to the article, Leumi will be the first local bank to publicly declare that it provides encryption services directly to Israeli retail customers.
