In the volatility of the encrypted market on 16 August, XRP once lost one full dollar and then recovered to the vicinity of approximately $1.06. Meanwhile, senior trader Peter Brandt once again publicly expressed a negative attitude towards XRP, stating that if he owned 500,000 XRPs, he would immediately replace them with bitcoin.
The XRP short-line rises when it hits a dollar.
The visit took place on Sunday during the trading hours. The market value of 500,000 XRPs is estimated to be approximately US$ 52.95 million, or 8.4 bitcoin, at the prices in the text. Brandt did not, however, disclose that he actually held the position, a statement that he used only to illustrate the presumption of personal asset preference.
According to CoinGecko, the historical height of XRP was $3.65 on 17 July 2025. Compared to the highs, current prices still show a marked fall. Brandt indicated as early as March 2025 that if critical support was lost, the XRP could return to the vicinity of $1.07.
Brandt reiterates his unwillingness to hold an XRP.
Brandt is talking about XRP again this time when the X platform responds to other users. He wrote that he did not want to hold the token and that if he received 500,000 XRPs, he would immediately replace it with BTC. The article states that this statement reflects personal preferences and should not be interpreted as having actually traded, nor does it represent a new public hold.
He has repeatedly criticized the price prospects of the XRP and the trade beliefs of some supporters. It is worth noting that Brandt's preference for bitcoin does not amount to a clear appreciation of his short-line movement of bitcoin. He had previously mentioned that Bitcoin had the possibility of falling back to about $58,000, but had likewise indicated that he had not entered on that basis.
Inflows of Binance whales have fallen to recent lows.
In addition to market reviews, the chain data have become another observation indicator in this round. According to CriptoQuant author Darkfost, the flow of XRP whale funds into Binance has fallen to about $61 million in three-month averages, the lowest level since 2021.
By comparison, this value was approximately $456 million in January 2025 and $355 million in October 2025. Declines in exchange inflows usually mean a reduction in potential sales pressure, but this does not automatically mean that prices will rise, as strong and weak purchasing boards remain the determining factor.
The focus of current market attention remains on whether the XRP can reposition itself above $1 after a rebound. As far as the information available is concerned, three main points have been identified: the quick fall of the XRP and its recovery of $1; a significant decline in the flow of whale funds into Binance; and Brandt's clear indication that he prefers bitcoin to XRP.
