Hegotá filters proposals for a large version in 2027. Recent discussions have shown that privacy transaction-related functions have been placed in a more advanced position, with the aim of reducing reliance on third-party intermediaries and reducing exposure to wallet activities.
Toni Wahrstätter, a researcher at the Taifeng Foundation, stated on Monday on platform X that the protocol team wished to give priority to the two proposals: Frame Transports (EIP-8141) and FOCIL (EIP-7805). The former gives the wallet greater control over the manner in which the transaction is executed, while the latter seeks to reduce the difficulty of reviewing or excluding compliance transactions.
Privacy pool to support out-of-pocket fees
According to him, Frame Transmissions, in cooperation with Keyed Nonces and Recent Roots (EIP-8272), would allow the privacy pool to pay transaction fees directly and no longer have to rely on external forwarding services or intermediary accounts.
Such intermediaries usually assume the role of proxy for Gas, but may also expose the connection between the user's wallets. If paid by the privacy pool itself, the transaction path would be simpler and the external visible information reduced.
In addition, the proposal package includes Transaction Issues (EIP-7906). This design allows the wallet to continue to attach conditions of execution after the transaction is submitted and limits the range of actions that can be executed after the transaction.
FOCIL confirmed for upgrade
Currently, FOCIL is the only proposal that has been confirmed for inclusion in Hegotá. The focus of the programme is to provide greater integration guarantees for eligible transactions and to reduce the space available for selective shielding of transactions by certifiers or block producers.
Wahrstätter states that if Frame Transports and FOCIL go hand in hand, privacy transactions not only reduce the dependence of intermediaries, but are also supported at the protocol level. This implies improvements in privacy functions, not only changes in transaction formats, but also the smooth entry of transactions into blocks.
Upgrading in 2027 is still screening proposals
Hegotá is still in the process of screening proposals. The proposal package where Frame Transports is located is only one of the 66 candidate elements and the development team has not yet finalized the full scope.
This round of discussions is also in line with the recent public statements by Vitalik Buterin. Buterin has continued to promote greater privacy in the Taifeng industry in recent months, increasing the ability to calculate resistance to quantum and reducing reliance on Layer 2. In February of this year, he offered to replace encryption programmes that are vulnerable to quantum computing threats; earlier this month, he placed a higher priority on privacy and quantum resistance.
In addition to their privacy orientation, developers are also assessing the expansion-related proposals, including how to adjust the transaction pricing and status growth treatment as the Gas ceiling rises to 500 to 600 million, and whether to test the zkEVM certificates available on the main web.
According to the current arrangements, Hegotá will replace Glamsterdam, which is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2026. Wahrstätter also reminds the developers that they are not able to achieve all the goals in a single time, while ensuring delivery on time, so the next rounds of trade-offs will determine the focus of the 2027 upgrade.
