All North Bank of Korea announced access to Ripple Payments, becoming the first regional bank in Korea to deploy this cross-border payment programme. It is the Bank ' s hope that this will reduce the international remittance process, which would have taken several days, to near real time, 24 hours a day.

Traditional cross-border transfers usually go through multiple agency and SWIFT channels, with longer processing times and higher costs. The goal of Ripple Payments is to shorten the middle and move the settlement from a daily to a minute or even a second.

Cross-border settlements for business clients

This arrangement is aimed primarily at clients of enterprises dependent on international payments, including importers and exporters, science and technology start-ups and online content enterprises. For such clients, the timing, visibility of payments and stability of processing directly affect day-to-day operations.

The Managing Director of the Ripple Asia Pacific Region, Fiona Murray, stated that interest in digital asset infrastructure was increasing among Korean financial institutions. She also stated that the role of regional banks in the service real economy was evident and that this access was therefore also considered part of the digital upgrading of the Korean financial system.

The Republic of Korea increased to three in Ripple.

This cooperation was also seen as a step in the expansion of business for banks across the North. The President of the Bank, Park Chun Won, stated that the Bank was seeking to expand its digital finance capacity and upgrade its internationalization services beyond its traditional regional operations.

  • Health insurance to explore the currencyization of national debt
  • Kbank using Ripple Custody Wallet Infrastructure
  • New cross-border payment scene at all North Bank

The use of Korean institutions continues to expand.

These three partnerships, which cover payment, hosting, monetization and wallet infrastructure, show that Ripple’s institutional operations in Korea are not limited to a single scene, but extend to a more complete financial infrastructure.

Korea itself is one of the dynamic global digital asset markets, and XRP has been active. This time, trans-border payments of block chains were introduced into traditional regional banking operations by Banco del Norte, which was considered the most recent case of further institutional landings.

If follow-up operations meet expectations, Bank-wide North practices may also serve as a reference for other regional financial institutions, i.e. to introduce faster cross-border liquidity within the existing regulated banking system.
