Einride, a Swedish electric and auto-driving truck company, indicated that 500 Tesla Semi were planned to be procured in phases over the next 24 months and that the first vehicles would begin to join the convoy in September. The vehicles will provide cargo services to Amazon and other customers, with a focus on the North American market.
Phased delivery within 24 months
This order had a clear impact on the size of Einride ' s current operations. The company currently operates approximately 200 heavy-duty electric trucks, serving customers including Heineken and Pepsi. If 500 Tesla Semi were delivered as planned, its fleet would be increased to about three times its current size.
Einride stated that the vehicles would be delivered to several key shipping corridors in North America, covering California, Georgia, New Jersey and Texas. The company plans to complete the purchase through third-party financing, rather than bearing the full cost of the car purchase.
Saga AI for dispatch and charge management
The newly introduced Tesla Semi will access the Saga AI platform in Einride. The system is primarily used for fleet movement, route planning and charging arrangements, with the objective of allowing clients to use electric cargo services without their own vehicles.
For Einride, this is not only an expansion of the fleet but also an enhancement of its software service capacity. As the number of manageable vehicles increases, so will the commercial space of Saga AI.
Tesla Semi's production is still climbing.
However, the full realization of this cooperation remains dependent on Tesla ' s ability to deliver. The Tesla Semi concept car was first released in 2017, but was subsequently extended for many years. It was not until 2022 that Tesla delivered the first vehicles to customers like Pepsi.
Tesla only announced in April 2026 that the first Semi offline from the high-yielding Nevada factory. Despite the progress in volume production, Tesla has recently diluted the representation of large-scale output achieved in 2026 and indicated that 4680 batteries are still being upgraded to support semi and Cybercab scale production.
Einride came on the market in June this year and is accelerating the pace of expansion. In addition to this collaboration with Tesla, the company had previously reached an agreement with the Amazon to connect 75 heavy electric trucks to its Relay cargo network and to build charging infrastructure in five locations in the United States. Einride also acquired a charging company, Flipturn, to supplement the capacity of integrated services for vehicles, chargers and software.
According to the company, if the relevant joint business plans move forward smoothly, these cooperations are expected to help it to translate into real income about $800 million of potential long-term annual recurrent income.
