Kraken is extending operations from transactions to routine payments. The company introduced debit cards for United States users, Krak Card, to support the return of consumption and to allow users direct access to the platform ' s French currency and encrypted assets for payment.
Support for 600 multi-asset deductions
This card provides up to 2% of the return, and the user has the option of returning the dollar or bitcoin. Refund is not a crediting form, but is directly recorded in the fund account. The return ratio is linked to the size of the assets held by users on the platform.
Krak Card can deduct money from over 600 currencies and encrypted assets. Users can pre-set deductions for consumption, and when payments occur, the system automatically converts the selected balances into United States dollars for settlement.
Users can also divide a consumption into multiple sources of surplus. This means Kraken is trying to further transform the transaction account into a payment account, not just an entry for the sale of encrypted assets.
The target isn't just a card swipe. Fees
CNBC reported that Kraken did not do so simply to obtain debit card transaction fees. Owing to restrictions on debit card exchange fees in the United States, it is often difficult to sustain a 2 per cent return level on the basis of income from the brush.
A more realistic goal is to keep more user funds and consumption on their own platforms. The debit card helps Kraken to keep deposits, improves the frequency of payments and reduces the likelihood of customers transferring assets out of other financial applications.
- Up to 2%
- Support for the return of United States dollars or bitcoin
- Directly available 600 multi-asset payments
Deepening competition with payment applications
As encrypted assets become embedded in the wider financial system, the trading platform is also competing for distribution access to end-users. Kraken this time introduced the debit card, which meant that it became more competitive with payments or financial applications such as Cash App, Venmo, Sofi, Robinhod and Chime.
Kraken has long been a service-encrypted original user with core clients including institutions, trading companies, professional traders and active leverage traders. By contrast, Coinbase places more emphasis on the location of encrypted entry points, while Robinhood favours integrated investment platforms.
According to the report, Kraken is still strengthening his encrypted original brand identity and trying to extend this position to the payment scene as the industry narrative moves from a purely encrypted trade to a tokenized stock, commodity, IPO share and a digital dollar.
Additional information:In addition to spot and derivative transactions, Kraken currently provides institutional hosting and tokenization of stock operations. The company also holds Wyoming bank licences and became the first encryption company to obtain the Fed's account earlier this year, so that its bank subsidiaries can have direct access to the United States Core Payment System.
