DTCC plans to launch the stock monetization service in October, at Canton Network. The service is for institutional investors and covers some of the large corporate shares in the Russell 1000 index.

Support institutional stock monetization

Once the service is online, the agency can monetize the shares of Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, etc. and transfer them between authorized wallets. According to DTCC, this arrangement is primarily intended for mandated institutional participants.

Let's start with the pilot.

The service was previously piloted and involved 40 financial institutions, including JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and BlackRock. The pilot provided technical and process validation for formal access.

The goal is to reduce settlement friction.

DTCC states that it is expected that the monetization services will reduce settlement costs, speed up transactions and extend transaction times, while maintaining the existing hosting arrangements as far as possible. For traditional securities infrastructure, this means that monetization is moving further into the application phase at the institutional level.
