On Monday, OpenAI launched ChatGPT for young people, adding a set of default-opened protections and focusing on educational use. Learning models become core functions
This product incorporates a new “learning model” with the objective not of giving answers directly, but of guiding young people to the point of completion. According to OpenAI, the system helps users understand the material through indicative questions and step-by-step support, rather than just getting conclusions.
If the system judges that users are more like copying answers than learning what to do, the application also pops up the job alarm and guides it to the learning mode. The products also support quizzes and learning visualization tools to enhance the use of the teaching environment.
Parents manage default settings
OpenAI states that the youth version of ChatGPT will default on age-appropriate protection mechanisms to reduce exposure to harmful or inappropriate content. These settings are based on the company ' s earlier use principle for users under 18 years of age.
Parents or guardians can manage the set-up through online family tools, including receiving safety notices, setting quiet hours and deciding whether or not the learning model is to be opened by default. By doing so, the company wishes to transfer part of its control to the family, rather than relying entirely on the user ' s choice.

However, it remains to be seen whether the design will work effectively in reality. Young users are often better at bypassing parental control or platform restrictions, and the new security measures are sufficiently stringent and no additional external test results are available.
